Maccoe Tomoe (Mac聲トモエ, stylized as Mac聲𪜈エ Makkoe Tomoe?) is a Macloid created by and based on Azusa.
Development[]
Initial concept art for Macloids based on Apple accessories were made late 2020. One of the concepts was based on the Apple Remote. Eventually, the character was created as a self-insert of the vocal synth world.
A CV Apple Loops bank was recorded on April 10, 2021, and a demo was released on April 21.
On July 14, 2021, a test DeepVocal bank was recorded, and later in the day, two demos were released as a work in progress. There are currently four pitches recorded.
The previously mentioned voicebank has the extension name Gen (弦?), referring to the crescent moon, which is also reflected in her design. The vocal type is a mix of soft and natural.
Two more voicebanks were planned: Han (半?), a feminine whisper voice that references the half moon, and Man (満?), a masculine power voice that references the full moon. What software they will debut on and the status on their availability are yet to be determined. In late 2022, a new moon concept called 新 (Sin?) was designed as a potential VTuber.
CV Apple Loops are available on the website. The DeepVocal bank is a private voicebank.
Concept[]
Tomoe is canonically the one responsible for designing and managing the Macknes, Mcnes, and other singers. Typically the peacekeeper, she finds happiness in ensuring others' happiness, but she does struggle with overwhelming responsibility. With this, she also struggles to take care of herself, and although she tries to keep herself together, sometimes she is incapable of holding back her tears.
She likes video games, horror movies, the night sky, and mythology.
She dislikes kidney beans, feeling powerless, and mean people.
Etymology[]
Maccoe is a parody of Macne, with the former meaning "voice of Mac." In other cases, as a non-Macloid, her real name is 眞聲友詠 (still stylized as Maccoe Tomoe), meaning "true voice" and "companion song," respectively. The kanji form of koe references the song of the same name by Tsukiko Amano, which is the ending song for Fatal Frame III: The Tormented. This theme is similar to Mackne Sae's name, referencing a character from Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly".
Her given name comes from tomo (友, companion/accessory), referencing the accessory her outfit is based on, and an alternative reading of yomi (詠), from one of the various spellings for the Japanese god of the moon, Tsukuyomi. The first half also works as an anagram for moto (元, origin/source), referencing her being a self insert.
She can otherwise be known as Azpoid (アズッポイド,Azuppoido?), meaning "Azusa-like 'loid."
